A 3-day boat fishing trip from Zanzibar (often referred to as Z’Bar) to Selous Game Reserve in Tanzania would be a fantastic adventure combining the best of both worlds – a relaxing beach getaway and an exciting fishing experience in one of Africa’s largest game reserves. Here’s what such a trip might look like:

- Depart from Zanzibar in the morning on a private charter flight or scheduled flight to the Selous Game Reserve.
- Upon arrival at the Selous airstrip, you will be met by a safari guide and transferred to your selected accommodation within the reserve.
- After a delicious lunch and some time to rest, head out for an afternoon boat fishing excursion on the Rufiji River, which flows through the Selous.
- The Rufiji River is teeming with fish, including tigerfish, catfish, and various species of bream. Your experienced fishing guide will assist you in catching some impressive fish while you enjoy the stunning surroundings and abundant wildlife along the riverbanks.
- Return to your lodge or camp in the evening for dinner and a peaceful night’s rest.
- Enjoy an early breakfast at your accommodation before embarking on a full-day boat fishing adventure on the Rufiji River.
- Spend the day fishing at various spots along the river, trying your luck at catching some of the region’s sought-after game fish.
- During the breaks between fishing, take in the wilderness of the Selous, as you may spot hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and a wide array of bird species.
- Picnic lunches will be provided, ensuring you maximize your time on the river.
- In the late afternoon, return to your lodge or camp for a relaxing evening, sharing fishing stories and enjoying a delicious dinner.
- On the final day, wake up early for a final morning fishing session on the Rufiji River. It’s an excellent time to catch more fish and enjoy the tranquility of the river at sunrise.
- After fishing, return to your accommodation for a hearty breakfast and check-out.
- Depending on the flight schedule, you might have some additional time for a game drive or a leisurely walk in the reserve before being transferred back to the Selous airstrip.
- From the Selous, take a flight back to Zanzibar, where you can either continue your journey or catch your international flight back home.
